Best WLM Reviews

The Taiwanese dishes at 886 Restaurant carry a distinct American fusion twist. For instance, the pickled Cucumber Salad 泡菜 are enhanced with basil and sweet tomatoes, and the Sacha Black Pepper Beef 沙茶牛肉comes with a vegetable alternative to water spinach. Lo Ba Beng 滷肉飯 strikes a decent level of authenticity, offering generous portions, while the Molten Sweet Potato 金沙QQ球 stand out with their size and satisfying flavor. Overall, the food is enjoyable, though it leans more toward an Americanized interpretation of Taiwanese cuisine. If you’re in the mood for Taiwanese-inspired flavors, it’s definitely worth a try.
Very disappointed.
The fried rice no longer has sausage in it, and it tasted so bland. The beef scallion cake also tasted weird. Everything tasted and looked different from last year.
It was such a shame because this used to be one of my favorite Taiwanese places.
We are originally from Taiwan and happy to support Taiwanese restaurants. Came for dinner and ordered pineapple flavored Taiwanese beer (always good), Shrimp cakes (delicious), Peashoots w/Tofu Skin (a thumb up veggie dish! Highly recommended), and Taiwanese sausage fried rice (kind of disappointed :-/). The restaurant is pretty simple and more like a fast food kind of dine in place. After had a few bites of fried rice, we pulled the waitress over and asked if they recently changed their cook because the fried rice tasted very different than a month ago. The fried rice was very salty and the rice was too mushy. We wondered if the cook poured too much soy sauce by accident. The waitress helped us to talk to the manager who said they didn’t change their cook nor how they cooked it. But they were willing to remake it. After the cook remade the fried rice, it was much better. Very happy for the service.
Very happy to have finally dined here.
As a fellow Taiwanese, I thank you for opening up such a great restaurant here far from home.
Was craving for something spicy so rather than my usual go-to order, I tried the stir fry classic Century Egg with Hot Pepper and Shrimp along with their cucumber salad.
Very impressed by how they kept the cucumber's crunch and the perfect home-felt flavor. The main dish was perfectly seasoned, and I really enjoyed the touch of crunchiness from Chinese yam (if I'm not mistaken) cubes.
Overall, extremely satisfied. Wasn't planning on finishing everything, but I couldn't stop moving my chopsticks LOL
Dragging my non-asian bf here next time!
Came here bc I saw the owner on YouTube. definitely doesn’t disappoint the taste buds in person.
The food was great! Special shout out to the beef wrap or roll (they do it better than a lot of other places bc of the sauce).
Another highlight was the crispy silken tofu! (This man does not miss on his tofu dishes).
The notorious chicken sandwich was also great especially the sesame buns they use.
Went late on a Friday night so the place is giving drunk people before going out to the club. Giving ABG rave vibes.
Recommend: pickles, Taiwanese beef noodles, beef, grass jelly sake, scallion pancake beef wrap, lo ba beng (pork belly rice)
Good: three cup chicken, black pepper beef, oyster pancake, popcorn chicken
I normally don't talk that much about service, but the food came out lightning fast.
I do regret not ordering some rice as some of what we ordered was rather saucy.
The sake was herbal and very sweet, with alcohol only on the nose and not in the taste.
The beef in both the pancake and the noodle soup were very tender.
Pork belly rice was very flavorful and punchy.
The oyster pancake comes with an intensely spicy sauce (easily 8/10 spicy)
The 3 cup chicken came in an interesting apparatus and tasted ok, but was not what I would have expected from 3 cup chicken
popcorn chicken had a thicker crust but was decently juicy.
While I loved the a choy in the black pepper beef, it was largely a pile of vegetables, definitely had to dig for the beef.
Recommendations were crowd favorites because I thought everything was not bad but nothing but the pickles and the a choy were notable to me. Might have rated lower if everyone else hadn't loved the food. So I'll opt to say maybe I'm the odd one out.
P1: Lo Ba Beng is super good! Always order!
P2: The Notorious T.F.C. very big and yummy!
P3: Taiwanese Steak & eggs the egg is very soft and the steak tastes good!
Also recommended Three Cup Chicken and Beef Noodle Soup! Especially Three Cup Chicken!!!
Such a great time here! The drinks are delicious, from the flavored sojus (loved the pineapple) to the sake bombs, and will definitely leave you feeling great. The popcorn chicken ($12) was freshly fried and perfectly crispy. The scallion pancake beef wrap ($13) was just like what I had growing up. The three cup chicken ($16) was so flavorful and tender. Extra points for the crispy basil!
