Best WLM Reviews
I came to this restaurant several times in the past. The quality of food had been consistently excellent. They had one of the best steak in St Louis. The restaurant was decorated beautifully, and the staff were friendly. We ordered a New York strip and a dryed aged Delmonico along with some vegetable dishes. The steaks were delightful. They also provided valet parking in case if you can not find street parking.
Came in for a private wagyu tasting dinner and it was one of the best meals of my life. Chef Grant was so kind and came out personally to explain each dish and his passion for cooking and creating.
Started off with some oysters that were so delicious and a champagne toast.
Followed up with some Gunma A5 tenderloin tartare topped with a quail egg(first time for me this was insanely good)
Then had some wagyu stuffed tortellini and the sauce was so delicious I wanted to drink it.
Followed by some crab encrusted sea bass that was amazing.
The show stealer for me was the Japanese A5 sunflower tenderloin that was cooked just perfectly on a bed of chanterelle risotto. Everyone at the table agreed instantly it was the best piece of meat they ever had. The chef came out and said he was playing around with some preparations he was preparing for their fall fresh sheet. If you want a memorable dinner this is the place to go, they have items I’ve never even seen before and the waitstaff was so knowledgeable. We’ll be back to see the Chef again, and our servers Dave and Colleen were excellent as well!
The server was awesome!!! The only thing I did not like about the atmosphere was that the place was too dark inside.
Had fried lobster tail (2lbs) as the appetizers. It was really good with the dipping sauces.
I had the dry aged Ruth Family Sirlion, and Monica had a filet. Both were great. The mashed potatoes are pretty good.
Had the Espresso Creme Brule for desset....ooooooo That was really good!
This is a one stop shop for customer satisfaction. I've been to a lot of steak houses and very few can compete with the quality at 801. Layer on a fantastic atmosphere and a knowledgeable staff who truly care about your experience and that defines the value of 801. Looking forward to the next visit!
I had a lovely birthday dinner here on Sunday, and the experience was outstanding. I ordered the 16 oz dry aged ribeye, with a black truffle butter finisher, the broccolini, and lobster mac. We started with the fried calamari, which was accompanied by some delicious little fried zucchini spirals. Our server was polite, professional, and knowledgeable. We really couldn't have asked for a better meal.
My experience at 801Chophouse was very elegant friendly and clean staff .....Babe the appetizer they have jumbo shrimps it was so good l started dipping my bread in the sauce ???? everything was nice I'm already planning my next trip back ????????????
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - “If you can afford it, don’t leave St. Louis without going here, even just once.”
Service ????♂️
The service at 801 Chophouse is nothing short of world-class. I’ve been here a few times for business, but this was my first time treating my girlfriend, and once again, Dave, our waiter, was the star of the evening. His impeccable timing and attention to detail made the night flawless. He managed to strike the perfect balance—always present when we needed him but never intrusive. He’s the kind of server that elevates the entire experience. In fact, I’d nominate Dave for the 801 Chophouse St. Louis hall of fame if there was one. ????????????????????????
Decor ????
Having recently visited 801 Fish, I can confidently say that 801 Chophouse has the superior decor. The fine-dining atmosphere is unmistakable, but it’s the perfect combination of elegance and comfort. The lighting was absolutely spot-on: soft enough to feel intimate without being too dark to appreciate the gorgeous surroundings. The place feels luxurious without being pretentious, and it sets the stage for an unforgettable meal. ????????????????????????
Food ????️
The food at 801 Chophouse is simply unbeatable. We shared the 30oz Porterhouse, accompanied by Brussels Sprouts and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. Here’s the kicker: the Porterhouse, which gives you both Filet and New York Strip, is just $10 more than ordering a 20oz combination of Filet and Strip separately. That’s a no-brainer! The steak was perfectly cooked, tender, and melted in our mouths. Even my girlfriend, who hails from the food-centric Northeast and isn’t usually a big steak person, absolutely loved it. She also enjoyed the El Dorado cocktail, which was beautifully balanced. This meal was an experience unto itself—worth every single dollar. ????????????????????????
In Retrospect ????
801 Chophouse has set the gold standard for dining in St. Louis. From the impeccable service to the luxurious decor and mouthwatering food, this is a restaurant that defines fine dining. If you’re in St. Louis, don’t miss the chance to visit, even if it’s just once. It’s the kind of place that leaves a lasting impression and is worth every penny.
Final Verdict: ???????????????????????? - “Amazing”
Catchy One-Liner: “801 Chophouse: A dining experience that redefines luxury, where every bite is worth savoring.
I looks like an old steakhouse of the bygone era: wood, statues, very attentive waitstaff who have great suggestions and knowledge of the steak and seafood offerings.
Our anniversary dinner was excellent. We had chop salads, the wet aged ribeyes, lobster mac & cheese, bake potatoes w/ the works, and the largest slice of cheesecake we ever had.
The steak was above and beyond other steakhouses and I didn't use steak sauce or horseradish.
Again, the meal was exquisite!
