A Superior Dining Experience at 715 Restaurant in Lawrence, Kansas
My recent visit to 715 Restaurant on Massachusetts Street in Lawrence, Kansas, was nothing short of exceptional. Located just 40 to 45 minutes from Kansas City, it’s well worth the drive. My wife and I couldn’t stop talking about our experience the entire way home the next morning—it was truly delightful.
While I didn’t photograph every dish we tried, I can wholeheartedly recommend a few standouts. The house-made burrata was creamy and delicious, a perfect start to the meal. We also loved the tuna crudo (pictured), served with crispy chips that added a wonderful texture. Another highlight was the Spanish-inspired grilled octopus, which was perfectly charred and flavorful.
The specialty cocktail list was impressive. I enjoyed a classic margarita, which was expertly balanced, while my wife had a cosmopolitan that she absolutely loved. My margarita packed a punch—it was strong in the best way possible!
The atmosphere at 715 was vibrant, with the restaurant full of lively diners. Despite sitting near the kitchen, the ambiance was never distracting. The space is quaint yet modern, featuring high ceilings, stylish lighting, and a clean, inviting design.
Our server, though I can’t recall her name, was outstanding—friendly, professional, and attentive without being overbearing.
We couldn’t resist indulging in a variety of dishes. The lollipop lamb chops were a fun, hands-on treat. I picked them up by the bone and enjoyed them just as I would at home. The goat cheese croquettes, which resembled risotto arancini, were another standout. They were served with a delicious truffle honey and mustard sauce, adding a perfect sweet-savory balance.
For dessert, we shared the house-special ginger cake—a delightful surprise. It arrived as a whole loaf, beautifully decorated with cream cheese icing and festive touches. Paired with two rich espressos, it was a fantastic way to conclude our meal.
Parking on Massachusetts Street is convenient, and it’s free after 6 PM, making it easy to enjoy a relaxed evening. I’m already looking forward to my next visit, perhaps before catching a show at Liberty Hall.
If you’re in the area, I highly recommend 715 Restaurant for its outstanding food, creative cocktails, and warm atmosphere. It’s a dining experience you won’t forget.
Great ambience. Sat outside and enjoyed people watching. Lots of locals which always gives a place credibility in my eyes. We had two happy hour apps - Brussels sprouts and croquettes. Both very creative with sweet/salty/savory flavors. Date night pizza with dates, mushrooms and other savory tastes. Friendly service. Good vibe.
715 is in my top 3 restaurants in Lawrence. It can be a bit pricy for some but well worth it. The Goat Cheese Croquettes are amazing. Chicken parm is huge and delicious. I stole half of my wife's crab ravioli. I want to try everything everytime I go. Can't wait to go back!
Stopped in for a bite last night and like always 715 never disappoints. It’s the best food in Lawrence and that’s why it’s always busy.
Hint- entree portions are large and can be shared.
Reservations are highly recommended.
No reservations required for bar seating and we can almost always get in for two with no waiting.
The menu is constantly updated with seasonal and weekly specials. Cocktails from the bar are made from scratch and with care. They have a great selection of beers, wines, and spirits too.
We had the creamed sweet corn, which was a delight to the palate. Served warm with a hint of garlic herb butter, and pickled shallots.
For a salad we opted for the peach and beets salad. Arugula base with a white balsamic, ricotta salata, pickled beets, fresh slices of peaches, and cherry tomatoes. It was the perfect palate refresher between bites of our other dishes.
We tried the fried shishito side and it was fantastic. A generous portion of garden fresh shishito peppers, whipped fetta, almond romesco, and sunflower seeds.
Our entree was the Lasagna Bolognese. An amazing portion of beef and braised pork, bechamel, tomatoes, and Parmesan cheese.
Had a lot of fun here celebrating for my wife's birthday. The food was great, but nothing stunning. The prices do feel a bit high for what you get, but the service and experience make up for that. Would definetly recomend, especially for a special occasion.
Bff and I are moseying along Mass and stopping in our fave shops when we realize we're PARCHED AND HUNGRY! thank goodness we're in front of 715! We get a primo table in front so we can people watch. Happy hour menu arrives, and I order a margarita (because, ahem, you know it's for research purposes), and bff orders a "spy" (I forget the full name) which is a lavender concoction and when it arrives she's keening back and forth with joy as it's so good. My margarita is not only beautifully presented but so tasty I may have to order at least another (but I'm driving so I woefully wont). We order appetizers to split: oysters with garlic butter, meatballs in marinara, French fries (because we're potato girls) and I have a cup of their famous cauliflower soup. The oysters are here and literally slip out of the shells adorned with the garlic butter to make my taste buds explode with a sweet taste. Just delicious! If you ever doubt larryville doesn't have access to great oysters, you'd be wrong. The meatballs are dense and tender. How does this happen? Usually dense means tough. Not here, not now. The marinara covering them is a perfect combo of sweet and acidic. THE SOUP!!! it arrives more than piping hot which I appreciate. It's like drinking velvet. First spoonful is so flavorful I am keening as well with joy. Just spectacular. I check out the bathroom which is clean and a singular. They have an adorable back deck which must be enjoyed by bff and me before winter! Our server, Cristina, was an absolute delight and so spot on with service. We'll request her when we return and yes, we will return. Definitely should be on your list of "must try" when on Mass.
Spectacular meal! Was looking for a more upscale place for dinner and landed here thanks to the positive reviews. Came at the very end of happy hour and enjoyed a cocktail and appetizer followed by dinner. The restaurant was packed but the server was attentive. The music was cool and the vibe in the restaurant was great. Definitely a little dark and loud but not in a way that detracted at all. The best part was the food. The truffle honey served with the speck/prosciutto duo was magic. The duck ravioli was sublime with a cream sauce so good it made you want to lick the plate. My only regret was not having enough room to enjoy dessert, but there's always next time.
715 restaurant, located on Massachusetts street, is a charming gem that offers a delightful dining experience. The only downside might be the limited meter parking on the street, so arriving early is recommended to secure a spot.
One of the highlights of 715 is its lovely and cozy outdoor area, perfect for enjoying a meal in beautiful weather. During our visit, the weather was just right, and it added to the overall enjoyment of the dining experience.
The service at 715 restaurant was pleasant, with attentive staff ready to assist and accommodate our needs throughout the meal.
The menu predominantly revolves around Italian cuisine, offering a variety of classic dishes. While the food tasted good, it was admittedly at an average level, leaving us hoping for a bit more excitement in the flavors.
Similarly, the presentation of the dishes was also average, lacking the wow factor we were expecting. However, the taste and presentation did not detract significantly from the overall dining experience.
We decided to try the dry vodka martinis, and they packed a punch with their strength. However, at $16 per martini, we did feel that the size was a bit on the smaller side, making it a pricier choice.
Speaking of prices, the entry point for dishes on the menu starts at $20 and goes up from there. While it might not be the most budget-friendly option, the portion sizes do make up for it, as they are generously large.
