If you're tired of the same old American-style Mexican offerings in the Cola market, give this place a try. On a busy Saturday afternoon, we were quickly seated and ordered our large Dos Equis Dark and iced tea. The thick round chips were served with a tasty homemade sweet/hot salsa. My wife had a chicken quesodea. I had the Carnitas entree. Not sure if the pork is flash fried before serving? Hot and oh so tender. Among the best Carnitas that I've had in recent memory. Prompt service.
8/3 update...Oscar took care of us at the bar today. My wife had the Chicken Fajitas. I spurlged and spent $28 on a bowl of soup?? Unfreaken believable. The Caldo 7 Mares soup is full of seafood variety...fish, whole shrimp, half a lobster tail, half a blue crab, mussels, squid, octopus, and clams in a beautiful Mexican broth. Munch on some of their chips with the soup for added texture.
The Tacos and Quesadillas are really good for the money if you're eating light.
Incredible how 7 Mares Mexican restaurant has delivered on so many levels. The restaurant is far above average, with authentic Mexican dishes, fresh ingredients and vibrant environment. The staff was very friendly, super clean restaurant, 5 stars for hospitality.
I am grateful to have been able to enjoy a lunch with my friends and family in 7 Mares Mexican restaurant. Treat your self and others and dine in!
I have very mixed feelings. We had an oddly very good experience, but not because of the food.
On first impression, I saw the "food grade rating" sign that said "C, food needs significant improvement," and almost turned around and left. But they were fast to get us seated so we stayed...second thing I noticed was there were a lot of flies. Menu was filthy. The waitress was nice enough. Didn't offer drink refills, but I didn't ask either. The chips and salsa might be great for someone else, but I didn't like them. Just deep fried mini street taco tortillas with chunky, sweet and slightly spicy salsa. The chips broke too easily and were too big. Chips and salsa were also not bottomless (you have to pay for more), and you only get a teeny tiny bowl of salsa. I got the choose four combo with a burrito, quesadilla, beans, and rice. Food quality was "Mexican night at the buffet" or "school cafeteria attempts Mexican." The vegetables in the rice looked like just frozen mixed veggies. The sauce on my burrito tasted like straight unseasoned tomato sauce. Very bland. Not tasty. Very basic. We're from the southwestern US and we know what authentic Mexican is supposed to taste like and it's...not this.
That being said, we went on a random Thursday night and there was this super nice employee who offered to make balloon animals for my kids, and she made them some actually pretty amazing animals. The kids were ecstatic, just absolutely on cloud nine the whole time.
So to summarize....I wouldn't eat their food again if they paid me, but I'd go back for the balloon lady? Turned out to be a confusingly great evening.
If you are expecting "typical" American Mexican salsa, this is not the place. The CHUNKY "pico" style sala is sweet and the green runny sauce is good (guessing tomatillo based?). Neither has any hint of heat. The margarita was just ok. Ordered chicken fajitas. Could not eat them. It tasted like they were cooked with shrimp or fish. The manager said they are cooked completely separate... Maybe just the seasoning? The manager was quick to bring out another dish! Their chips were definitely homemade. They were good. They do charge for more chips though... We wouldn't not go again, but it would not be our 1st choice. The margarita seems a bit pricey.
If you want incredible Mexican food and large menu selection, look no further. This place was incredible, I went for lunch for my first time, and it was amazing. The place was nice, the atmosphere was great, the music was incredible, the staff was friendly and best, best, best of all was the food. My meal was so delicious, flavorful, and filling i was in heaven. Large portion and worth it. The manager was great and kind. I will be back here again soon.
I enjoyed my first trip to 7 Mares. I ❤️ the different style of chip, even though they were crumbly, but I ate every crumb there was! Their salsa had a sweet taste, and I like the chunk of vegetables in the salsa. You get the first one complimentary and after that, you do have to pay a small fee, but it’s worth it. I liked the chicken and the ground beef taco, but I did not care for the shrimp quesadilla because it only had cheese. It’s definitely worth a visit and I will definitely be back!
Food is AMAZING. Servers are fast, courteous and attentive. Chips are made IN HOUSE. Salsa is sweet heat and verde is spicy and wonderful! Cerviche de camerones is exquisite.
YOU WILL NOT REGRET EATING HERE!!!
Live latin music friday nights and mariachi band Sundays!
Great portions, cheaper and better tasting than local Mexican establishments. Drinks came out in seconds and food not much longer. Only downside is it's in a strip mall and not very noticeable. You have to try for yourself. I'll see you there. ***So after coming back several times I have now started tackling their traditional seafood menu. Wow the flavor of these dishes are heaven. Some of the dishes for 2 can be made for one and is a must try! Their soup base is some of the best seafood soup base I have ever had. Also try their charro beans. Yum!!!
