Best WLM Reviews
I heard about this place recently & decided to give it a try & was so impressed with the food & service but more so the price. The food was done to order & Jason was so kind & patient in explaining everything to me. I had the Chicken in sauce & Tilapia this time around but will be going back whenever I get a chance to try out the fried & jerk chicken. All the thumbs to this restaurant, fresh food done to order, please don’t ever change. I love that they are open daily & also deliver, please keep up the great work. I feel like I can’t stop writing as there is so much great things to share ????
The foods really good! Portions were large imo because my roommate and I both had leftovers for the next day. This the closest authentic Haitian food I’m getting to home so I can’t complain. I got the jerk chicken, diri djon djon, mac, and a side of griot.
Great food, very flavorful and great service. They cook to order so it may take some time but I prefer my food fresh so I believe it’s worth waiting. The haitian patties are fresh with big servings. 10/10 recommend.
If you’re craving authentic Haitian cuisine, 509 Caribbean in Tallahassee delivers an incredible experience. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with warm hospitality and a cozy, inviting atmosphere that sets the tone for a memorable meal.
Food: The menu is packed with traditional Haitian dishes that capture the essence of the culture. The griot (fried pork) is tender, perfectly seasoned, and pairs wonderfully with their pikliz (spicy pickled vegetables). The legim (vegetable stew) is hearty and flavorful, showcasing the chef’s skill. Don’t skip the black rice (diri djondjon)—it’s a highlight. Their portions are generous, and each dish bursts with vibrant, authentic flavors.
Service: The staff is attentive and knowledgeable, happy to walk you through the menu if you’re new to Haitian cuisine. Service is efficient, yet it feels personal and genuine, making you feel like a valued guest.
Ambiance: While the space is modest, it’s clean and decorated with touches that reflect Haitian culture, creating a warm and authentic vibe. It’s an excellent spot for a casual meal with friends or family.
Value: Prices are reasonable, especially considering the quality and portion sizes. It’s a great value for anyone looking to explore bold and comforting flavors.
Overall, 509 Caribbean is a gem in Tallahassee’s dining scene. Whether you’re a fan of Haitian food or trying it for the first time, this restaurant offers a flavorful journey you won’t forget.
I have had Caribbean food, but this was my first time having Haitian food...and it was delicious! I would definitely call and order ahead of time if you're able to. The wait seems to usually be anywhere from 15-30 minutes, but it's well worth it for the fresh food. It's inside of a little mini mall, so you have to look out for it. They have lots of beautiful art inside, and information for catering services.
We ordered the Jerk Chicken & Tilapia entrees, and both were absolutely wonderful. The Chicken fell right off the bone, and the plantains were cooked perfectly. The tilapia was some of the best fish I've had in a while... My Son doesn't really like fish, but he was begging for bites it was so good. The plates came packed full of food, too. Definitely enough for leftovers.
One of the best Caribbean experiences I've had. I highly recommend them for delicious Haitian food in Tallahassee!
I Pay almost $40 dollar for a meal combo of fried fish, rice and beans, salad and fried plantains and a MacNChesse on the side and my order was incomplete and so salty the fish and the beans, and the salad together w the food, The salad was damaged, no good! bad experience with my food and for a pregnant woman, missed my macandChsse and my plantains ???? bad customer service when u call to order the lady just hang up the phone before you finishing talking???? the fried chicken my first time was good, but my second time was frustrating for me.
They need to improve customer service, they hardly answer the calls, the food should not be salty, and they should pack the entire order. I tried to call to put my complain but since they don't answer I preferred to put it here????
I would have missed this gem because it was rated at 3.9 if Google maps had not suggested it. Delicious food great pricing huge portions. Wishing longevity to you and your business. If you are visiting FAMU check this place out.
