This place stood out to me in the night time drives back home from clocking out of work just down the street. I’ve been meaning to stop by for a while now, as I try to train my “artistic eye” and seek inspiration for personal projects…
and tonight was that night that I would finally grab my camera and see what I could do with this garage that had purple neon and a couple of cool cars laying out front.
I walk in, around 8pm, trying to see if there was anyone in the shop, and ask if it were possible to explore the place a little bit and snap some photos.
Into the shop, arrives Bobby.
I understandably startled him a little with my presence, being that it was past closing time, unbeknownst to me.
I ask him, and I give praises and respect where it was due, and after a little bit of evaluation, he lets me scope the place out, not thinking much of it.
He lets me walk into his area of work, and the first thing I notice is the amount of character that is radiating in the space. I stop and take it all in. The lone neon lights, smell of cigarette smoke in the air, and a wide range of equipment and tools give a sense of ambience that makes itself known, and the numerous flags and posters hung up on the wall, among other little touches, make this place a representation of the amount of time and effort Bobby and his crew put into their craft. He put a lot of time and effort into this place, 25 years to be exact, and it shows.
Enough character in the place to fill up most novels.
The cars that were being worked on in the shop were, in themselves, works of art in progress, and were gleaming through the night. Paired with the tree of lights at the far wall of the bay, they really display themselves as such. There were a few cars on lifts outside, and they too had a presence of their own, and the surrounding area gave the illusion of a 2nd indoor area with the night time sky.
I assume the clients he gets understand his knowledge and passion on the mechanics of these machines shows in the kind of work he and his crew put themselves through in such a humble space.
After I was done, we had struck up a little conversation, and with me being a aspiring musician, Bobby telling me stories about the famous musicians that he’s had the pleasure of knowing struck me near and dear to my heart. He’s built close relationships with members from bands such as ZZ TOP, Twisted Sister, and Mudvayne, and they vouch for his work, driving cars he’s worked on in pictures.
Really cool. And well deserved.
I showed him songs that I’ve produced, and he seemed impressed. Even followed me on social media.
Score.
He really didn’t have to let me in and hear the stories he had to tell, but he did, and I was amazed by it all.

5 Star Auto Repair left an impression on me that is unique, and it oozes passion for the craft and is giving character back to cars within its humble walls.
While it IS outside of my comfort zone in terms of personal tastes, as I’m more on the side of Import Tuners, I can respect and love any place that has one’s own personal touch to make it stand out among the rest, and this place definitely has that, and then some. It’s to be appreciated, respected, and admired. It has a story to be told, and it deserves to be told from a place of light. Cars are how I found the best people in my life, and I’ll respect the culture as such.
I will definitely be coming back here to see what others stories this place has to offer, and I hope for nothing but even more success for this place than it probably already has.

This place will make you feel like a badass for even walking in and admiring the tales it has to it’s name.
Most phenomenal shop in town. Especially if you have a old school and if you live in the Summerlin area. On point with every suggestion and where to purchase parts. They know everything about hot rods and big old engines. I got a 455 and they worked tirelessly for months to get the temperature correct. They even checked on the status of the car by calling me personally, after I got the car back.
Today I went to 5 Star for the first time and I'm glad I did. I had an urgent issue that I had to get fixed ASAP and the only person able to do that was Bobby. The staff called him, explained the issue and he came back to shop to fix it. 99.9% of people would say I'll do it tomorrow or I can't but they really came through. I'm extremely grateful for them going out of their way!

As a girl, it’s hard to walk in somewhere with a car problem. Michael was kind, explained everything , and a straight shooter. I found them to be fair and honest. I no longer have to worry about where to take my car. It will always be to these guys.
Bobby and his team are true professionals. Trustworthy and reliable. My grandfather and I took his '32 Ford Roadster for a much needed tune up. Bobby and his team went above and beyond to get things running smoothly. Highly recommended.
This place was good, but the service has gone down. They want to keep your car for days. And then the service they did do, I’ve had to bring back my car multiple times, leaving my car there, again for days.
One time, I had my sunroof locked on open l, Bobby said he could fix it. I left it there for 4 days. The whole time my sunroof was left open, on that busy-dusty, street. I ubered to get my headphones, I left in car. My whole car was packed of dust. It was horrible.
I forgot to mention that when I finally got my car that Wednesday. This was Saturday when I got my headphones.
He detailed the car, I still I forgot to mention that.
The next day, of having my car. My front passages seat stopped working. The mechanical part, stopped working.
After that, I haven’t wanted my car.
It’s been a lot to deal with.
The guy is very unprofessional when I speak about this to him.
He can’t even see what he did.
Go to a different auto place.
Every time I got work done, I was always back, to get them to fix it.
The cars out front are cool.
The guy is nice, and talks way too much.
But other than that, if you want your car done right, and fast.
GO TO A BETTER PLACE.
This is NOT for you.
Another time, I picked up my car, and a thumb print was on my glove compartment, to open it.
I usually lock it, when it drop it off. I left it unlocked this time.
12500 two new carburetors never saw the First new carburetor even though I paid for it the first time they never gave it back to me. Second new carburetor was not properly tuned dumped to Rich of the fuel mixture into the brand new motor which destroyed piston rings and cylinder walls. Had two other mechanic shops look at the motor and tell me the same thing without even being prompted on what was wrong. Now I'm out all that work and I have to go buy a new motor
My son had an aftermarket touchscreen installed (by another company) in his car that messed with the communication system. A/c wasn't working and was getting many error codes popping up. Brought it to Michael and he went above and beyond to help us get it figured out. We appreciate all the time, and help Michael provided. Thank you 5 Star!
