The online hype for this place is real. We started with a shared order of Queso Fundido was might be the best appetizer I’ve ever had.
Our entrees didn't disappoint. I loved my Torta Ahogada. The carnitas was moist and flavorful and the tomato broth was a perfect compliment. I ordered one Al Pastor taco which I also really enjoyed. The Barbacoa de Res was delicious and the portion was beyond generous.
Can’t wait to come back and leave enough room for dessert. This place was packed on a Saturday afternoon so arrive early or be prepared to wait.
The service here was top notch -we never felt overlooked and the staff were super friendly. Though my order was initially mixed up they fixed it right away. The food was delicious - fresh guacamole, flavorful street corn, and the caldo de pollo was served hot and tasted amazing. The enchiladas were also a hit and everything looked great on the plate. The Horchata was just ok. Large vegetarian menu is available. Portions were generous, and while it's a little on the pricey side, the quality of the food and service made it worth it. The selection of Mexican music added a great vibe. Outdoor seating is a nice touch.
Great food! Decent prices for the quality you get! From their red & green salsa to their entree dishes, everything was absolutely delicious. Our server recommended their special to us and I'm glad he did because it did not disappoint! Also, the Chicken Rababitos Style was fanyastic! The place is small and casual. Because of the size, it can get pretty loud when it's busy, but their excellent food was worth the increased decibels. We'll definitely be going again!
I had an amazing experience at 5 Rabanitos in Pilsen! The lively atmosphere and vibrant decor make it feel like a true Mexican dining experience. The restaurant was bustling, which is always a great sign, and the colorful papel picado decorations added a festive touch.
The menu offers a variety of traditional Mexican dishes. I tried a selection of tacos, and each one was packed with flavor. The presentation was beautiful, with fresh radish and guacamole on the side. The textures and taste were on point, especially the tender, flavorful meats. I also tried their seafood dish, which was bursting with spices and topped with fresh pickled onions—absolutely delicious!
The service was attentive but our server was a little overwhelmed as he served our main entrees first and our appetizer last. And then he misheard me on an to go order and ordered the wrong items. I understood he was overwhelmed so I didn’t take anything away from the review nor the tip. But I want to mention it here.
Overall. Whether you’re a local or visiting, 5 Rabanitos is a must-visit for authentic Mexican food in Chicago.
I was here on a Sunday right after they opened. The service was great. The food was delicious. My compliments to the cooks. I've been wanting to come here for quite some time to try something off of their vegetarian menu. I was not disappointed. My boyfriend had the chilaquiles with chorizo and he enjoyed his dish. The food was so flavorful and filling.
We at Color Cocktail Factory love supporting fellow small businesses, and 5 Rabanitos in Pilsen is a true gem! Their food is absolutely amazing, and the staff is incredibly friendly and kind. Awesome!!! The Cochinita Pibil Torta (Yucatán) and the ATorta Vegerariana were amazing, so tasty! The veggie torta was huge! Lots of good vegetables in it. Café de olla was ok. Our server, Eduardo, was very attentive and friendly. Fernando, the manager, was very helpful. Great place!!!
