Best WLM Reviews
That chicken was made with love, and it shows. Cooks came to say hi and chat with returning customers, so you know they’ve put in the time to get to know who you are. We got the 100 - mild and 200 - hot chicken wings, came in 2 pieces of toast and pickles as you’d expect from a hot chicken spot. I’m not too great with spice but the 100 were unreal and packed with flavor, heat was a good level and worth venturing a try if you’re not so great with heat like myself. Had a bite of the 200 and that was even more flavorful, but I personally wouldn’t be able to handle a full order. I love a good crinkle cut fry, and that was probably the best crinkle cut fry I’ve had. Seasoning across the board was 400%. I’ve had a few chicken spots here in Nashville and this is definitely #1, highly recommend and reasonably priced!
First time here and having proper Hot Chicken and let me say this was so worth the visit. We tried their 100, 200, 400, and 800 and let me say, hot damn! I don’t know how they manage to get the chicken so crispy and juicy. Considering the seasoning on it, it was surprising how crispy the fried chicken was - impressive. The spice profile builds so when you bite in, you taste the various flavors and seasonings without it just being hot. My favorite was the 400, it had an incredible, savory and spicy flavor across the board along with a little acidity so not sure how they pulled that off. The 800 just had an over powering chili flavor and not much else (it was good but it tasted like a teaspoon full of chili powder). Not quite my jam without more acidity (if I had a lemon, I’d squeeze that on but then it won’t be hot chicken). The heat profile was on point though, but it didn’t last for a crazy long time. Only reason for the 4 stars over 5 was because the fries were simply ok and could have used a bit more salt. The service was great! Ordered online and it was ready by the time we got there and the lady at the counter was so sweet. When she saw what we ordered, she wished us well and warned us it would be hot. She was right but it was also very good. Hit the spot for sure!
I love anything hot. So I was excited to try the 400 degree wings. The chicken itself is amazing and fresh. It just had way to much seasoning on it. It does have some heat but nothing to crazy. But I have only been once. So I'm going to go back again and hope not as much seasoning. It also is a bit of a wait for the food. But it's cooked to order which I don't mind for some fresh Nashville hot chicken.
Got the 200° Leg Quarter, crunch was awesome and it was served so hot and fresh the temp made it hard to eat it at first. The heat level was just right for me, but equivalent to "medium" at many other popular spots. The atmosphere was very simplistic- think like high school cafeteria- probably a 2, but it was clean and the artwork that was painted on the walls was interesting which improved it. Service was good, a employee from the back came out to take my order immediately, and a friendly man came out and brought my food to the table and informed me that if I ordered online next time, my food wouldn't take so long to come out- (I did wait about 15 mins for my food, but was told that wait time when I ordered). Overall I'd go back and enjoy again, but consider take out as the dining area leaves a bit to be desired.
I was expecting food to be very hot. The "inferno" sandwich was quite tasty but not hot (contains both 200 and 400 degree chicken tenders). I had some Tabasco on the fries following and it was significantly hotter. All tasty and worth a try, just not super hot.
Note: Service was great to start then faded.
Great juicy chicken but the food takes way too much time to get ready .
Order in advance and go only when it is ready .
We ordered the 400 degrees and the 200 degrees spice on our tenders leg quarter and the breast . Loved the spice level .
Next time we will be the daredevils and will get the 800 degree ????
Overall a good experience with the food but the customer experience can be improved
This is certainly an off the beaten path spot, but well worth it. The staff were hilarious and kind. Food did take quite a while to come out , so I wouldn't recommend coming if you're in a hurry. However, the wait was worth authentic hot chicken. I dined here with my husband. We both enjoy spicy food so we both ordered two medium spicy tenders and one spicy tender. My husband has the highest spice tolerance of anyone I know; yet, even he was crying whole tears by the end of the meal. I will say that while the chicken was ultra spicy, it still had a good depth of flavor, too. It wasn't only hot, unlike others. We'd certainly come back.
But next time, we'll probably stick to the medium. In their defense, they did warn us????????
I've been to damn near every hot chicken establishment in middle TN. Started at Prince's and Bolton's when I was a little kid and haven't stopped since. 400 Degrees wears the crown now. Prince's old spot on Ewing was the best. But now? It's 100% unequivocally Aqui and her 400 Degrees establishment on Clarksville Pike. If you're getting hot chicken in Nashville, the birthplace, then you go to Aqui. By far the best in the game right now.
