My husband and I have been to the South Tampa location multiple times and I’m never disappointed. Today I had the 2x2 platter with pulled pork brisket Mac and cheese collard greens and jalapeño poppers with sweet tea. Food was delicious I just wish that I had more.
Customer service is always up to par. We were welcomed as soon as we walked in. Items were recommended to us. Employees were so polite and smiled throughout our experience.
The atmosphere is always mellow and inviting. It’s been a while since our last visit but we always remember to enjoy the food and atmosphere.
Located near MacDill Air Force Base, 4 Rivers Smokehouse delivered a satisfying dining experience that left us eager for a return visit. We indulged in a delightful spread of barbecue goodness, starting with my choice of the half rack of St. Louis style ribs. They were perfectly cooked, boasting a balance of tenderness and flavor that made each bite a pleasure. Served alongside crispy fries and a decadent bread pudding, it was a hearty meal that hit the spot.
My girlfriend opted for the BBQ tacos paired with sides of sweet potato casserole and 4R BBQ beans. The tacos were a creative twist on traditional barbecue, blending savory meats with fresh, tangy flavors. The sides complemented the main dishes wonderfully, showcasing the kitchen's attention to both taste and variety.
We sampled all three sauces offered — sweet, mustard, and hot. While they didn't blow us away, each provided a decent accompaniment to our dishes, enhancing rather than overpowering the flavors.
The atmosphere was warm and inviting, matched by the exceptional service from the staff. Everyone we encountered was
genuinely friendly and eager to ensure we had a pleasant dining experience. Special mention goes to the employee who, with honesty and apology, explained the unavailability of the advertised BBQ pork belly burnt ends. Such transparency was appreciated and reflected the restaurant's commitment to customer satisfaction.
For dessert enthusiasts, 4 Rivers Smokehouse didn't disappoint with its selection of bakery treats, although we were too full to indulge further this time.
Overall, 4 Rivers Smokehouse near MacDill Air Force Base exceeded our expectations with its delicious barbecue offerings, friendly service, and comfortable ambiance. Despite the minor hiccup with the pork belly ends, we left looking forward to our next visit, eager to explore more of their menu and enjoy another satisfying meal.
Laid back fast food kinda barbecue place with the cafeteria style tables. The pulled pork was tender, their sauce was very good, nice level of spice. The fries were amazing, the lemon dessert was beyond good, but the coleslaw was a pass for me.
Great place to stop and grab a meal. The brisket was solid and the sides were awesome. The vegan option was also exceptional!
The corn bread tho, next level.
They give samples of their food if you need it. Plentiful potions on a tray.Ribs , pulled pork, brisket, and sausage so good. Collard greens and cornbread with a hint of jalapenos deliciously inviting.Mmmm good. Best bbq so far.
4 Rivers is a solid barbecue choice, everything is delicious including their sides, something a lot of places drop the ball on. My husband didn’t think he liked okra before today but he liked the fried okra here! The messy pig sandwich is so messy and perfect. The platters are also good. If you’re looking for a place to take the family for dinner, this is it. Oh! Don’t skip the oatmeal cookie sandwich, it was my favorite part!
Just happens to stop here on my little pass through Tampa. Food was wonderful.. I got the pulled pork, sausage, ribs and brisket with Mac and cheese and green beans. It was ALOT of food, couldn’t finish it but it will be good for leftovers. The service was OUTSTANDING.. the lady that was there at the register was very polite and took very good care of me.. even though I could have gotten the stuff myself she bought it to the table and made sure I had everything needed.. great spot…
