Popped our 3rd and Spruce cherry.. This place is laid back and in a beautiful part of the city! Gorgeous natural lighting and even moreso mouth watering drinks and food. The staff were all very personable and attentive! We will definitely be back as they have entertainment a few nights a week.
The bar staff is phenomenal. The beer list is strong, and so is their Old Fashioned game! Great food, great atmosphere, great fun!
I am not a complainer, but we had the worst service I have had in years. Literally, we could not get a drink, order food or get the bill and we are by nature patient people. At least 5 times we sought out our server, who was relatively easy to find hanging out by the bar Our food was wrong, our drinks were wrong (a margarita instead of a tino's and tonic) and our bill had extra charges that weren't ours. I can't remember the last time I didn't leave 5/5 because I tend to excuse minor inconveniences. The positive is when we did get the right food, eventually, it was good.
Stopped by today for an impromptu lunch at around 2 pm. Very unique, off the beaten path local pub. I believe the building was 3 row homes gutted and made into one building. Nestled on the corner of 3rd & Spruce in a row home neighborhood near Reading Hospital with available free street parking right outside the pub. Kid friendly. There is adequate outdoor seating with covered awnings. Large indoor pub with some private rooms, seating at the bar, game room with awesome shuffleboard table. Upstairs balcony seating overlooks main eating area.
The pub was very clean and service was excellent! They have a unique menu and a nice “on tap” variety of IPA’s. Our food was delicious, hot and fresh. Personally, I had the delicious Short Ribs sandwich on a brioche bun with sweet potato fries. The meat was fall-apart tender and not fatty. Everyone really enjoyed their selection - Spruce Cheese Steak was packed with meat & not sauced. The cheese burger was tender & delicious! Our server, Taylor S., had great suggestions and thoroughly knew the menu and the IPA selection.
We spent the afternoon visiting the Reading Public Museum which by the way was well worth it. Afterwards we checked Google Maps for a highly rated place within walking distance for dinner before the show at the planetarium. While we are not fans of sports bars we were quite pleased. It was a warm, sunny day and they had the front opened up to the outside letting fresh air and sunlight. We were seated right away and had our first round of drinks in a short time. The food was good and so was the service. The drinks were amazing and served in unexpected flavors including fig, pear, and ginger. Definitely a big ????.
Menu seemed promising but did not deliver. Caesar salad was very salty and the pastrami on the Reuben was sliced insanely thick. Hummus starter only had taste because it was covered in olives and cheese. Heads up; additional charges if you have 6 people in your party.
Service was ok, food mediocre. Bathroom very cold with sticky floors.
We arrived at 6:15pm and were seated in the back. The host checked if someone greeted us yet at 6:35pm and we said no. Around 6:40pm the waitress claimed to not know that she had our table and took our order, which we were ready to place ASAP due to the amount of time sitting and waiting. She brought the drinks out within a reasonable amount of time; yet came back to ask us if we were ready to order when we had already ordered our food...she probably forgot to enter the order.
To make things worse, a family of 10+ who arrived at least 10 minutes after us received their meals before we got anything. I flagged down a staff member as they were heading to the kitchen to let them know that we still hadn’t received even one wrap, while the large group had their entire meal. Meanwhile, a group of four seated shortly after us ended up leaving after 20-30 minutes because no one had even greeted them.
Eventually, a woman came over—without introducing herself—after I had spoken to a man about the delay. He had offered me a drink on him, so I assumed the drink would be complimentary. The woman brought it over, but it turns out I was charged for it, though my friend’s wrap was comped. If I had known I’d be paying for the drink, I wouldn’t have ordered it. Overall, the service was terrible, and this was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The wrap took one full hour to come out.... while the family of 10+ seated after us received their entire order, just to reiterate that.
We visited before a concert at Santander Arena. The food and service were great! Highly recommended.
