Update: It has now been 4 months and my nails just recovered from this experience. I wasn’t able to get my nails done for 3.5 months because of how badly my nails were damaged. I just want to reiterate how terrible my experience was at this place. Maybe it was just that specific technician, but literally the worst ever.
Worst nail experience ever! I went in last weekend because of positive reviews and recs, but regret it so much now. I just needed a gel polish change and ended up leaving with my nails in the worst shape they’ve ever been in.
First, the technician used this gel polish remover instead of acetone that completely stripped the bed of my nails. I told her my nails were curling up from it and she didn’t do anything. Then, she used her tool with a massive buffer head to buff away the polish to the point where it was burning me. I told her and she changed the head of her tool to another massive buffer. Have never felt pain like that while getting my nails done. By the time she was done with her tool, the beds of my nails were red. However, I figured the gel polish would cover them up and they would be better in a few days. Wrong. Not only did all of my polish turn a different color after a day (picture), but I just had to cut my nails completely down because they were bending and breaking from the damage. You can see in the picture after I cut them that the technician buffed away most of my nail and they are paper thin now. This explains why I was feeling so much pain during, too. I have naturally strong/thick nails, so seeing that I have basically no nail left was very upsetting. Would not recommend this place at all.
Such a great place! they kept asking me if I wanted water which was so caring of them. I went in yesterday for an acrylic fill with french tip with Quan and my experience was so amazing! I showed him an inspo pic and he got it to the exact T! I’ll be back again when I need another fill ???? (first pic is the inspo)
I’ve been a customer for 2 years now. I’m in awe of my set with Quan EVERYTIME. This review was long overdue. You can book an appointment online which is very user friendly and convenient.
Love 312 Nails! Tom is the absolute best! Have been coming here for years and my friends also now come to Tom and 312! Timothy the manager is always so welcoming, helpful and friendly and it’a been such a pleasure getting to know Tom, Timothy and the team over the years! Tom’s dip service lasts longer than other salons and he is super efficient! I travel a lot for work so having nails that stay in tact when you can’t get to the salon for a repair is important and I’ve never had a breakage with the lasting work Tom does.
I hate writing bad reviews, I contacted the salon directly the same night as my service. It’s been over two weeks
I wanted a regular manicure, the first polish had lumps in it, when I asked if I could please try a different polish she told me I was wrong and there weren’t lumps (the lady next to me stood up for me and said it’s sticky and lumpy) she picked out a new color, rushed through and my manicure looked awful
I was not comfortable asking for a bother fix especially with the tech standing over me. Total bummer not going back.
I love this place so much that not only was it the ONLY place I trusted for my sister’s wedding (they accommodated the bride & four bridesmaids) but since moving to Miami I pretty much time my visits to Chicago home to get my nails done here. Phenomenal service at a great price, and I never have any trouble getting an appointment time!
I walked in and told the guy who checked me in the color I wanted. He took the color and sat me down. When it was time for my manicure, they asked again what color I wanted, and I clearly said BRIGHT BLUE. But what do I end up with? Purple nails. This isn’t the color I wanted at all. I’m furious. I even told the guy when he brought back the color that it looked way too purple and it wasn’t what I asked for. Now I’m stuck with these ugly purple nails & it’s summertime.
Does that look like bright blue to you guys?? Waste of money!
My absolute most favorite nail salon in Chicago. Mai has been my nail tech for the past 6 months and she always delivers on the most detailed, beautiful designs. Whether it is a funky French tip, stars, hearts, or a full on St. Patricks Day extravaganza, Mai always makes it happen.
I always get so many compliments on my nails even from strangers, and I always tell them about how 312 is amazing. Beyond the artistic excellence from this salon, all of the staff are always kind, welcoming, and eager to help you relax during your self-care break.
