I only have great things to say about this Medical Group. First, Family Health. They always go above and beyond for me. The workers up front, The Techs, Nurse Norah, and Major Tyler. I always feel confident when I go to my appointment because I know they work together as a team and the workers up front always are organized and know when my appointment is and the reason for it. I’m not sure the Techs name but one of them called each pharmacy in Clovis and Portales to see if my prescription was available at the time at any of the pharmacy’s. Major Tyler has been my Doctor for the past year and I have always had great appointments. He has helped me tremendously in my life. I am much healthier today because of his medical guidance. I only hear amazing things about his work ethic and I agree completely. He is the only Doctor I feel comfortable with taking care of my medical health. Nurse Norah is also phenomenal if I ever call for her she always calls me back by then end of the day. She goes out of her way to make me feel like a priority. And that is amazing and how everyone should feel. I’m so thankful for her! Second, the pharmacy. I know ALOT of prescriptions are on back order but they can’t help that. They always are working hard to make sure I and others get the prescriptions we need. Calling and ordering the prescription and at most it has taken 5 days to get my prescription which is actually amazing considering the medication was on back order. I get it might take 20-30 mins to get your prescriptions but I mean if there are 30 people waiting for prescriptions and only 6-10 workers maybe try and be patient. And understand that it is going to take time just like any other pharmacy would. I have had such great experiences at Cannon Medical Group.
Both techs and clinicians like to make you feel like a burden for making a face to face follow up appointment about issues causing great anxiety. Tech will make you feel like an idiot for even coming in to be checked out even though you have an actual appointment time dedicated to you, and then interrupt your appointment to let the NP know the next patient is ready. No care, no help. Why even get into healthcare if you're acting like that to patients. Better off going to urgent care in town.
Pediatric, lab, vaccine, women's health have all been great but the family health side of this med group is beyond worthless.
Be prepared to wait for months, then have appointments cancelled last minute. Be prepared for the pharmacy to ignore phone calls. Be prepared for a different provider every time. Be prepared for the clinic to be closed at least one day every work week. Be prepared for inadequate medical care. Be prepared for referrals that never get sent. Basically, if you can imagine a way for a clinic to get something wrong, this clinic probably does it.
One of the worst med groups I've seen. I'm on lifelong medication for hypothyroidism, and they keep switching my PCM every season, which results in my medication getting messed up because each PCM wants to prescribe different doses from the last. The PCMs have barely even seen me in person because they prefer discussing my blood work results over the phone, and they all think they know better than I do about what doses are best even though I've had this condition for 13 years and already know what works and doesn't work for me. And when I do go in to see a PCM in person, it's as if the clinic never bothers to look up or keep medical records because I am asked the same questions about my medical history every single visit and I have to narrate everything from the beginning.
The receptionists for Family Health are a mixed bag. Most know what they're doing when you call to schedule an appointment (don't bother scheduling anything through Tricare Online because it doesn't work for this clinic), but there are some receptionists that ask for all sorts of random information, such as your DoD number, and then don't even schedule your appointment when they say they did.
The pharmacy either blocks or picks up and hangs up your call during what I'm assuming is their lunch hour instead of using a messaging system. Today I've been trying to contact them to activate a new prescription after a month of waiting--they were out of stock last month--and it seems like they either changed or have their number blocked because no calls are even getting through. No announcements on their Facebook page, either.
My advice to anyone moving to Cannon is switch to Tricare Standard or something and find your own provider off base because this med group is a circus.
I take low dose chemo. I am out and my dr isn't for a couple more weeks.
The hospital is shut down, no idea why. I want to contact the commander and have no way to.
I am now into my second week with no chemotherapy and I can not get ahold of a single person. This is the worst medical system in all our air force.
I called mental health 5 times to get a referral, each time they’ve sent me to voicemail and did not return the calls. At one point, they picked they up the phone and hung up. Thank god this wasn’t a crisis or anything
This is the most unorganized, unhelpful, establishment I have ever dealt with. Every encounter that I have had with them has been bad. Most of the staff I've talked to are rude and have no idea what they are doing. They are closed more than they are open. I am a dependent, so I am still not sure of how every process works through TriCare or just on base in general. I work in healthcare so I try to be understanding when it comes to certain things. But no, this is the norm when dealing with this facility. Something needs to change. Would definitely rate with 0 stars if possible.
I was super impressed with how attentive the staff here was, my call was answered by the third ring, I was able to schedule a checkup for myself and my newborn within two weeks from the date I called, and when my appointment needed to be moved to another facility a lovely nurse called and walked me through it, thank you so much for your great service!
