Delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. We were looking for something celebratory and not casual, but with fair prices. We had the calamari, salmon, made to perfection, with one of the best salads I’ve had, the Brussels sprouts salad, truffle fries (perfection!) and other dishes were the salmon mains. Delicious. Our only concern was the service. Rushed, abrupt, flustered, banging our cups and plates, not friendly, and not as smooth as or reflecting of the ambiance or the food.
My friend and I went for brunch and we were not disappointed. We ordered an appetizer and we had to immediately send it back because it had a hair in it. Our food was delicious they did remake the appetizer and also removed it from our bill. The cocktail's ???? I had were also amazing. I would come again.
Stopped in at 220 Merrill and like always it didn’t disappoint! Never ordered a Tomahawk here before. But after seeing one go out to the table next to us. We decide to give it a try and let me tell you, It was well worth it. I can highly recommend it if you’re in the mood. We paired this with some Brussels sprouts, crispy yukon golds, and zip sauce. All in all a great visit to one of my favorite restaurants and outdoor patios located in downtown Birmingham.
Our server Bachir was phenomenal!! He was well-versed on the menu and had impeccable customer service. My party of eight enjoyed every dish and drink he suggested. I would highly recommend the queen of hearts, oysters, mediterranean branzino, billionaire fried rice and biscoff tres leche. The live DJ Thursday night took the vibe to the next level.
220 Merrill has consistently been my go-to spot for quality food and a great dining experience. They offer a solid variety of dishes, including some excellent halal options. Whether I’m bringing friends, family, or business clients, it’s always a pleasure to dine here.
Some standout dishes I highly recommend include the Sweet & Spicy Calamari, NY Wagyu Bone-In Steak, Lamb Chops, Truffle Fries, and Brussels Sprouts. The flavors are always on point, and the quality is impeccable.
However, there have been occasional disappointments with the service. Some waitstaff seem to lack enthusiasm and attentiveness, only taking orders and delivering the check with minimal interaction. This detracts from the otherwise enjoyable experience.
On a positive note, Carolyn, one of the waitresses, has consistently impressed me. She explains the menu as if we’re new customers, maintains great energy, and checks in regularly. Her exceptional service always earns her a 20%+ tip.
My suggestion to 220 Merrill’s management is to train all staff to match Carolyn’s level of service. It would elevate the overall dining experience and ensure that every visit is a pleasant one.
Excellent service and food! The recommended banana foaster was delicious and definitely could be shared by two people. The 220 omelette was savory and cooked perfectly. Thank you.
Came in only wanting steak- got the NY strip which was solid and very impressed they didn't under or over cook my medium. My server came over enough times making sure everything was good and would top off my drink often.
Tad more expensive than I expected- was around $85 with a coke and tip.. but hey its Birmingham
Brunch was the best ever! We enjoyed every moment there. We had the short rib hash, which wasn’t extremely heavy but just enough to get full. The calamari was delicious although my cousin said it was a little to sweet for her. And the chicken wings were spiced just right. And oh my god we have Dubai chocolate which was more delicious than expected. What made the experience the best was our waiter Bachir he took the best care of us in any restaurant we all had ever been in together. He made sure we had everything we needed and made sure we knew he could get anything we needed. I’m going back just for him next time. Thank you sooooooo much for taking such good care of us. Because sometimes we worry that we will be forgotten.
