The food and art is incredible! So are the staff. I love the one of a kind uranium chandelier installation and how the original owners kept a lot of the vintage history in tact. The high ceilings are perfect for indie or artsy & musical events. A location for business or vacation. The rooms are clean and cozy with an extremely fierce modern touch, old floor plans in place, and they have ghost stories!! Bonus points if you ever get to see the roof view. ;)
Was in town for a few days on a business trip and didn't want to stay in a run of the mill/boring hotel in the suburbs and was happy to run across 21c as an option. Located right in the middle of the Power and Light District in the heart of downtown KC with cool art, clean and comfortable rooms, and very friendly/helpful staff. Would absolutely stay here again.
This hotel is ok but I wouldn’t call it a 4-star full service hotel. The room layout is good but my room had carpet stains and needed some maintenance in the bathroom. A friend who was staying in another room also had carpet stains and a foul smell in the bathroom.
The Savoy, the restaurant in the hotel, is nice. However, it isn’t open for breakfast or lunch during the week. That’s a problem for business travelers.
Finally, I arrived before their check-in time of 4pm. I gave them my phone number. They promised to call when a room was available. At 6pm, they still hadn’t called. This is a forgivable mistake, but combine it with the maintenance issues in the room and the lack of breakfast/lunch…I can’t recommend this hotel. It isn’t a bad hotel. It just isn’t worth the premium price.
Loved the hotel! From the minute we checked in, every employee was super nice & friendly. They made the check in and check out process so easy. They held our bags until the rooms were ready as well. We had two rooms and they made sure to assign them right next to each other. The rooms were nice, clean, and we literally have no complaints. Super easy for us to walk to and from the Power & Light District. Great location.
Clean, welcoming staff. Our room was clean, no odor noted. Bar was a nice environment with history information given by our server. Penguins (art), were moved around and the kids loved it because they were all on our floor! There was a rubber ducky in our shower that my little girl absolutely loved with her bath. The bed was uncomfortable but we got over that. There is parking at the garage across the street for $10, happy to report our vehicle was safe , (I even checked), garage is not a part of hotel FYI. Art was cool in the museum. Hall way was quiet, and we were all able to sleep with no interruptions. Thank you staff, we would book again!
We booked the double queen bed room almost 6 months ago for a family wedding. We arrived to find out they admittedly gave away our room to a visiting soccer club. As a result they were completely booked and couldn’t get us in the correct room. Instead the 4 of us were crammed into a one bed room equipped with a couch from Temu. They offered to bring roll away beds up, but didn’t include the bedding. After several visits to the front desk staff, we finally were able to have somewhere for our kids to sleep. Unfortunately this also meant our room was now an obstacle course. The front desk staff did everything they could to accommodate and I believe were limited in offering corrective actions. They originally said they were trying to contact the manager to offer a discount on the room. Ultimately they were only able to offer us a free drink voucher for the bar. The staff was great, hotel is nice, but management is incompetent in every sense. They’re ill prepared to handle busy event weekends and aren’t willing to actively address and correct their mistakes. We were one of several members of the wedding party that were given an incorrect room.
This is going to be long winded, but I have never enjoyed a hotel and staff the way I’ve enjoyed 21c Museum and Hotel these last 5 nights. The art is beautiful and the restaurant is delicious but that’s only half the charm of this hotel. The staff made the trip for me and my boys one of the most enjoyable we have had. From the front door to the front desk to the housekeepers, everyone speaks to you as if you’re friends and any need is met as soon as you voice it. They are all kind, charming, and beyond accommodating. My youngest son in particular absolutely fell in love with some of the staff there and the love he felt back in return is unlike anything we’ve experienced in hotels before and we’ve stayed in plenty! This hotel doesn’t just give you a nightly hospitality check via automatic text message, the employees engage with you the moment you’re in sight. Now while I do not think this hotel is really meant for kids, they showed my kids nothing but patience and kindness. I do not plan to stay anywhere else when visiting KC in the future and plan to look for their other locations if I’m ever in range. Like I said, this may be a hotel best enjoyed by adults(even though they were wonderful to my little ones) so keep that in mind. The location, as well, is more enjoyable for adults. But I highly highly recommend staying here if you’re in town! They’re welcoming, kind, accommodating, and just enjoyable to speak with. Excellent work ethic and charming to boot! Thank you guys so much and I can’t wait for an opportunity to see you all again!
I worked with 21c to reserve a room block of 10 rooms back in March of 2024 for our wedding weekend in October 2024. The block of 10 rooms included two double queen rooms, one for my brother and his family of 4, and the other for some of the groomsmen to stay and also so the guys would have a more spacious room to get ready in the morning of the wedding. Both of these rooms in our block got booked by our group within a couple weeks of our block getting set up, so about 6 months in advance. However, when we arrived at the hotel wedding weekend, we were informed that a soccer team was staying at the hotel and our two double queen rooms had ultimately been given to them, and thus my brother and his family and the groomsmen were given a room with a single king bed. We were told that the hotel was sold out that weekend, and there was ultimately nothing that could be done other than putting roll aways in the rooms to accommodate everyone and offering free drink coupons. This definitely wasn't an ideal scenario as it created very tight conditions within the rooms, and made it difficult for the groomsmen to get ready the morning of the wedding.
I will say, the front desk staff tried to do what they could to help, which we appreciated, but obviously they are limited in what they are able to do at that point. We were frustrated that these accommodations were booked 6 months in advance just to be switched out by management without any notification or warning to us, and there were no attempts to correct the situation.
