Lovely food excellent location.
A gem of a restaurant tucked away at the end of Low Fell high street. Fairly new, but a cut above the rest by far.
The menu is seasonal and changes every 4 months or so, but always superb and innovative. The wine selection is good and Servers are attentive and happy to help.
It is quite a small room and can get busy, so try to book rather than just show up in the evenings. There are steep stairs up to the restaurant, so be aware that access maybe an issue or impossible for some people with mobility issues.
Had a fabulous meal at 1964 on New Years and were so impressed we returned on Saturday evening and again the food was stunning. We intend to certainly return. Wonderful to be able to enjoy the fabulous flavours the chef creates without having to travel too far. We loved every course.
Visited this restaurant last week with my husband and we were both extremely impressed. By far the best meal we've had in the North East. The food was absolutely top class and the service was everything you could ask for. Attentive, friendly and welcoming. The price of the meal was very reasonable for the excellent standard of food we had. Will definitely be regular visitors to this fabulous new place.

We have been twice before and have had 2 fab meals. Today we are celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary and we have just enjoyed the most wonderful meal. The food is amazing. Years ago we used to go to a michelin starred restaurant in grasmere and I can honestly say the food we have eaten here is on a par with that. What I didn't understand was why the restaurant wasn't heaving. It's really special and it's not too expensive so come on people!! We don't want to lose this jewel of a restaurant in low fell.
