Very disappointed.
Food was just ok and edible and not much to the shrimp salad I had or the shrimp skewers that my partner had.
We expected more but the menu wasn’t the online advertised menu they have on their website. That menu was MUCH better. The food they had on the 2-sided menu was something more for a college selection than upper scale options we thought we would get - again not what website offered. Server told us it was changed 2 months ago and was clearly embarrassed having to explain. Why not change the online website menu? All the servers looked to be college age.
Parking is a chore and wasn’t immediately apparent so I called from the car and they said park at the deck across the street and they would validate.
I would not recommend nor would we go back.
We are not locals and on vacation and wanted a local place to eat and not a brand.
To begin with, this is not fine or even upscale dining. Imagine if you took a Chili's menu and deleted about 2/3 of the entries, that's kind of what is offered at 1899 Bar and Grill.
We walked in and we're seated promptly at a comfortable booth. Our server asked if we would like any beverages or cocktails. I asked for a bottle of sparkling water but was told that they don't have any sparkling water. We then proceeded to order two cocktails, mine a Hendricks and tonic.
The cocktails took a full 25 minutes to materialize and came in the middle of our main course. The Hendricks and tonic that arrived was actually some form of a whiskey drink, and when the server took it back and brought another drink it was obviously not Hendricks. I sent it back and did not order a replacement.
The menu is extremely limited. Mostly burgers with a few appetizers, salads and 4 entrees. Very disappointing.
We ordered an appetizer, two dinner salads and two entrees. All of the food arrived at the same time. It was delivered team food service style, not by our server but by anybody who is convenient, and nobody obviously knew who had ordered what. No quality control.
The quality of the food was mediocre but not unacceptable. The steak frites were nothing more than a pan-fried steak with french fries. The taco salad had crisp greens but the chicken tasted like it came out of a can.
Through the meal, nobody came to refill our waters or check on us. In the end we asked to speak to the manager and expressed our dissatisfaction at the overall experience.
We hope somebody takes the initiative to turn this into a real restaurant.
Ate here during NAU's family weekend. The server was very friendly and attentive. The food was very good as well!
Food was ok. The mac and cheese and cheese curds were the best 2 items we had. Service was a bit slow.
UPDATE 8/21/2024:
The sevice on our second visit really confusing. We were seated promptly, but had to wait awhile for a server. It turned out that the bartender was waiting tables, including ours, as well as behind the bar. Because of bar orders and closing tabs we often didn't see him for 10-15 minutes. It took multiple requests to three servers just get water/drink order after waiting 15 minutes. All of the staff were pleasant, but appeared to be inefficiently managed. Multiple times we received apologies "Sorry for the wait on the water" " Sorry for the wait for the check" etc.
The food was good, but not amazing. The website menu is very different from the menu we were given and website should be updated more frequently. Not sure we'll return next time we're in Flagstaff when there are many other restaurants in town.

The food was solid. Don't expect Ruth's Cris level of steak. The service was excellent. Overall, I'm glad we came. BTW that's one HUGE pretzel! <--sadly this is no longer a menu item and it's just pretzel sticks. ????
It was alright. Nothing super special. My husband and I went here and were excited because it looks really interesting on the outside, but the food is just alright. It's good, but it's nothing to write home about. The atmosphere is nice, though. And the service was super friendly and on top of everything we needed. And they gave up little gift bags with some candy in it and a free desert for our honeymoom, which was really sweet! Probably wouldn't go again, but it was fine.

Food presentation was surprisingly attractive. Tasted good, but my rib steak was slightly salty (totally personal preference).
Enjoyed the experience overall.
UPDATE 4-2024
It was great to see that the staff did not change. Tonight Chef Rob, Kyle, Ryan and Anaya made our visit, once again memorable. My husband got the sirloin steak again, I ventured out to get the miso salmon, both of our meals were cooked absolutely perfect. We ended up with some of the best crème brûlée we have ever eaten.. we spoke about it again, we said this place should be packed, but unfortunately, who is ever doing the marketing is not doing a very good job! That is a shame!

DIAMOND, yes a beautiful gem. I can’t believe this place wasn’t packed. It is off the beaten track, and the signage is not very good, but I would definitely recommend. From the first step into the restaurant, we knew it was the right choice. The hostesses were great. They picked the perfect table for us. We ordered a bottle of vine. I had the pork chop with potatoes and vegetables, delicious, Cornish was also ordered at the table, and my husband ordered a steak that was cooked amazing and perfect! Melody, Chef Rob, Makayla, Alana and Anaya you were all amazing! Chef Rob, Congratulations on getting the perfect flavors with the perfect meats. I can’t wait to come back for another scrumptious meal. OPPS! I almost left out how good the crème brûlée was. A perfect crust!
