Best WLM Reviews
Charlotte airport is one of the coolest airports. Unfortunately, this restaurant doesn’t live up. Long wait time, poor service, food was bland.
As soon as we were brought our food we asked for our check. And then proceeded to watch the service walk around and do everything else but being our check for 20 min. We were finished eating within about 10 min and continued to sit there. They seem very understaffed and also like they just don’t care much.
Overall experience was OK. I sat at the bar and I ordered an American mule and the Bronx bomber pizza. The drink was fine, pretty straightforward. Don’t get the pizza. Just don’t. Against my better judgment I ordered it - I just wanted pizza - and I immediately regretted my decision. It wasn’t worth it. The taste and the amount of cheese, reminded me of elementary school cafeteria pizza. The bartender was pleasant, but not very interactive. I had very low expectations, since it is an airport bar, but was still left somehow disappointed.
Stopped here for breakfast passing through the airport, and my only complaint is that it took nearly 10 minutes before I was acknowledged at the hostess stand. Thankfully once someone approached, I was immediately sat at a table. Once I placed my order, the food came fast which was much appreciated. What was even more appreciated was how good the food tasted!! I layover in Charlotte often and will definitely stop here again!
Pretty mediocre for a restaurant.
Food was okay but my table’s Salmon BLT was missing both the bacon and sauce in it. Turns out the kitchen sent it out on purpose, knowing they didn’t have any bacon when the order was initially placed. After us, they also ran out of salmon.
I had the Chicken Caesar salad and it was decent. Our waitress was nice but was never able to be found, especially when we were trying to quickly get the check and leave to catch our next ride.
As far as airport food goes, it was okay. We were seated right away, but our server never came back except to deliver our food. I ordered the Salmon BLT, but she gave me the salmon entree. The food took so long that I thought sending it back would make us miss our flight... it didn't matter though, because we never saw our waitress, Sunny, again. It was another waitress who gave us our check. She was kind enough to take $5 off since the food our waitress gave me was not only wrong....but more expensive.
This was a horrible experience.
In other news, the place was clean and we had a great seat for people watching. ????♀️
The check in process was a little irritating, the host was not efficient. However my server was fast and efficient and provided excellent service even among the rushing environments at the airport. The brussel sprout looked amazing but it didnt taste good to me. like the flavors didnt mesh. the fries was ok but not giving parmesean fries, tasted regular. The salmon blt was good. the salmon was moist .
5 star review with the caveat that this is airport food, airport experience.
We were seated quickly even though there was a line, our waitress was warm and attentive. 1897 has a great little market atmosphere, and we were seated in an area that felt open and airy and yet not crowded.
The food came quickly, was delicious, and was very reasonably priced for the portion size, especially for an airport. Ordering vegetables/salad is super hit or miss in an airport, but this is a safe place to get something other than typical greasy airport fare. I had a salad and my coworker had the brussel sprouts appetizer (which was huge and, as per her, delicious).
Would eat here again when next flying through Charlotte.
We had a nice experience here. The hostess was accurate with her wait time (about 15 mins), and our server Gisela was very good. The pepperoni pizza is great. So good that I took the leftovers home to eat tomorrow. I deducted a star bc they were out of steak for the steak salad and the Italian dressing was the little packets of kraft, which are not my fave.
