I almost stayed on the street. This is my worst experience, although I have traveled half the world. I booked through a service. I received a confirmation letter. And no information that there would be no check-in after 6 pm. The phone numbers were incorrect. I sat at night with suitcases on the street in a hurricane wind. I was frozen and had panic attacks. And after all this, through other guests, I managed to contact the check-in service. They started asking me to send a credit card number and additional payment. This is so absurd. If I knew that no one would be present for check-in, I would never have booked in my life. Why give a phone number that does not work? I don’t even have a phone, I’m a tourist and flew in from another country without internet or communication. It’s very scary to stay outside in the cold. In the end, an hour later they told me the code for the door, which was open all this time. Too much stress
We were a group of 4 adults and 1 toddler and we had a great stay! Enough space for us to cook, sleep, eat. Very clean and nicely managed. The location is the thing at Meridian House! Everything was walking distance and the neighborhood was perfect for us. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.
Despite speaking with the office twice over two days, I was never delivered a washcloth for the bathroom/shower. Also, after showering for 5 minutes, I had no hot water to shave in the bathroom sink. I reported this problem as well, the issue was not corrected. The water pressure from the shower was extremely minimal too. I felt like I was showering at a camp site.
I stayed three nights. Despite its optimal location close to the Miami Beach Convention Center, I will stay somewhere else in the future. The $35/night parking also seems a bit outrageous, and the service fees and taxes brought the advertised $138/night to $200/night. The bed/mattress did not offer much support.
I booked via Airbnb and paid in full because I needed a place for a one night. After I booked, they started to send messages but none of them said anything about fees outside of what was paid in full on Airbnb. Then they messaged that I needed to fill out a form with my credit card information so they could charge me a $47 cleaning fee, a $37 parking fee, $42 in miscellaneous charges and taxes and $200 deposit. None of this as specified on airbnb. I would’ve paid or taken the fees into consideration against the other properties I was considering but not day of when I’m trying to get into the city. So after they tell me about this, I ask for clarification on the fees that were not listed prior or should’ve been included in the original listing. I also did not appreciate having to send my credit card info with my signature authorizing any charge they wanted to add to the trip while they withheld the check in info. It took 46 messages with the most incompetent staff to finally get the information. We didn’t get to check in until 8 pm. The check in was for 3 pm. We missed our dinner reservation because we couldn’t get in and get ready. When the company reached out for a review I informed them of what happened and they said it was my fault for not checking in at 3 pm. This company is shady with their practices. I stay in different airbnbs all over the world for work and never have I faced such dishonest practices. Again, I have no issue with places charging what they think is fair but be transparent about it and don’t waste peoples time when they’re in the city trying to do what they came to do.
*edit* I’m traveling for business so the review is posted from here but here is my confirmation number since you’d rather respond as if I’m lying than to know that this is the exact complaint made to you day of reservation, when I responded to your request for a review via text and a review on here HMFFZ9MS3H
The hotel’s location was perfect for our needs. On site parking was also a plus. We had some minor issues with wi-fi and tv remotes.
So I “checked in” Friday at 7pm. I wasn’t given any instructions, and when I tried to call, the person at the front desk kept giving me the wrong code. Fast forward to Saturday morning and I wake up to ANTS EVERYWHERE. Mind you I put all my food in the fridge and threw out all bags the night before. Called the front desk and asked for a different room, and they just sprayed it with bug spray?? I wasn’t comfortable with that, so I asked again for another room. 1.5hrs later I’m finally in a new room but then they’re like “hey so we need to charge you for the new room?” PARDON? Because there was ants in my first room??? Absolutely insane all around and I will not be staying here again, and will be disputing the charges with my bank
We had a great time at 1818 Meridian, the hotel staff were very helpful and gracious, the apartment was perfect for us comfy beds and good kitchen; location perfect location in Miami Beach, next to Lincoln road with great food option and close other Miami Beach things to do. Loved jogging on Miami Beach which was close by. Looking forward to coming back and staying here again. Thank you so much
This was arguably the worst hotel experience we have ever had. I’ll start off with the only positive that the location was literally a 7 minute walk to where we needed to go. Immediately when we arrived, we were very confused at the parking situation. There are 8 total parking spots in the TINIEST parking lot ever. Just getting in and out my Honda accord hit the curb. We call the hotel and find out we can’t even park there. I wouldn’t have booked the hotel if I knew we couldn’t park there, and it is NOT shown on the booking website (Priceline) where we booked it that the spots are reserved. So the manager tells us we have to park at a nearby parking garage and could not for the life of him give proper directions because we had to find it ourselves. I would suggest parking here anyway because of the parking lot and the hotel charges double the amount to park there. We get back to the hotel to put our stuff away first before the parking garage. Call the manager again because we had no idea how to get into the hotel. He says enter the 1818 building. There is so entrance to the 1818 building. He says go through the gate. Okay, the gate says 1816 in giant font, is that the right gate? No, it’s 1818. He says where are you I don’t see you in the parking lot (the office he’s in is DIRECTLY above/in front of the parking lot) How can you not see us. So we just go through the 1816 gate because manager is not guiding us (it says 1818 in TINY font underneath) and finally see where to go. Upon check in there’s a $40 something fee (for features listed on Priceline that aren’t included) and $200 deposit. Finally get to the room. The room was fine, I didn’t realize that the rooms all face the outside so have to be careful to keep blinds closed. Shower window had normal blinds that had some mildew and shower had no door so the floor got pretty wet. Whatever though the room was fine. We leave and get back around 11 pm. Immediately started hearing INSANELY loud what sounded like a concert in someone’s room. At 11 pm. We call the hotel, there is NO ONE that can help you after hours. The nighttime person (not on site and mentioned he’s never even been on site) only checks people in and was interrupting and talking over me the whole time, but he called the cops on the loud neighbors because that’s all they can do. We wanted to just leave the hotel at this point but couldn’t because there’s no one to help us with that process. Cops came, that solved that. We’re just trying to get through the night at this point. 2 am comes, people get to their room insanely loud and same deal. We were so over it and just accepted we weren’t sleeping. Upon check out in the morning, we told manager of the concerns and figured maybe we’d get some kind of compensation or credit or something besides a sorry. Nope. He didn’t even know the cops were called, how do you not know that?? The gate to the hotel was open the whole time, and the whole place reeked of marijuana. Said there’s in unit laundry (there’s not) If we were spending more than one night here we absolutely would’ve left. We won’t be returning and this place needs some SERIOUS improvements.
