Happy birthday Abby! I hope you had a great one! Brian. Thank you for all the great advice. We actually took your directions on a good way to get back home. You and Joe took great care of us from behind the bar. Abby is a remarkable young woman. It was a delight to have her take care of us. Found out after 55 years. I like pimento cheese. Would highly recommend it and the sausage as well as the pulled pork to the banana pudding. The bread pudding, the brisket... Etc etc. Melts in your mouth. It's like little pieces of heaven. We actually spent more on stuff than we did on food and drinks. T-shirts, sauces, seasonings, rubs even bought glassware.
The ribs and fresh greens were great and the different sauces that were on the table were pretty tasty. However, my fries were not that hot when served. Overall the meal was good, cool fries (which I did eat anyway) not withstanding, I'd recommend 17th Street bar and grill for anyone that liked BBQ and smoked meats. The server we had was most excellent and the atmosphere was neat. I liked the old bar.
Wings and brisket sandwich were top notch. Would definitely eat here again. Pork rinds were really good too.
I keep coming back here for the service. Noah was our waiter last night, and I had an oddball request. A bottle of ski with a shot of grenadine. Hard request to understand but he got it right in the end and was so Kind and pleasant. The food was great as always, can’t wait to come back.
I got the pull pork sandwich and a side of Mac & Cheese. The Mac and cheese was good but the meat was really dry. Also you really had to add BBQ sauce to the meat to get seasoning/flavor. Perhaps I stopped by on an off day but it was not worth the drive to me. The waitress was nice and attentive. The person who sat us down kept using the same line for every table to get customers to buy their seasoning rub. Overall an okay experience.
Maybe I've been spoiled with good BBQ in the South, but I'm not much of a fan of this beloved barbecue joint.
The building was easy to find from the signage. The interior was clean and what you would expect. The staff was warm and accommodating. I had really high hopes that the food would match.
It's much drier than you would expect. The brisket was flavorful from the rub but broke in shards. Maybe that is the style here but it wasn't very nice. The pork was far beyond needing to be changed out in whatever is used for storage because of the dryness. Worst of all, I've never known pulled pork to be unseasoned.
The sauces were okay. The fries were delicious and piping hot. The coleslaw could have been amazing but had bell peppers thrown in for some reason.
Maybe I was wrong for visiting on a Monday, but with this many awards, I would expect to be knocked off my feet any time.

Had the brisket sandwich and french fries. Everything was good as usual. Even had some strawberry shortcake for dessert. The shortcake definitely could have used more juice on it. The French fries were much better this time.

Had the Brisket Sandwich and French Fries. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. The fries were average. The service was excellent. Our waitress was the absolute best. My husband and I were pretty full, but still wanted their Strawberry Shortcake, which is amazing, we decided to share one dessert. Our waitress made it extra special for two. Did not get any pictures of the meal but did get a photo of the Strawberry Shortcake
I have smoked hundreds of #s of pork shoulder and eaten my weight in it as well traveling on business. 17th Street pulled pork sandwich today was as good as any I have ever had. Perfectly moist and smokey, the bun was fresh with a generous portion of pork.
The ribs have the perfect smoke with the expert tug off the bone texture.
The brisket, cut from the flat, is moist, tender, smokey, excellent work!!
I'm a fan of fried pickle spears over chips due to the high pickle to batter ratio. These pickle chips have a high pickle to batter ratio so they pass.
Speaking of eating my weight on something, their bread pudding is the best! Even the sauce is perfect. The bread pudding is so good, I would drive here just for dessert!!
Nachos also great, not mind blowing but still excellent.
We tried all the sauces and all are worth taking home, which we did.
I am so pleased to see 17th Street is still working at Championship level. Strong work, we'll be back!!
