Best WLM Reviews
We went to 1799 Prime Steak & Seafood to celebrate my dad’s birthday, and it was a mixed bag.
The Good: The appetizers were amazing! We got crispy calamari, wings, and the crab and avocado tower, plus salads. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The steaks were the real stars—both my parents loved theirs, and my husband couldn’t stop raving about the lamb chops. The ambiance was nice, and they added thoughtful touches, like a birthday card and a free dessert for my dad, which was really sweet.
The Not-So-Good: The drinks were underwhelming—my dad mentioned that his was watered down. The patrons who were seated next to us shared our sentiments. The entrees were hit or miss. I had branzino, and my cousin had the blackened snapper, and both were overcooked and under-seasoned. The sides were a mixed bag too—mac and cheese was great, the mashed potatoes were bland, and the spinach was good but nothing special.
All in all, it’s a decent spot if you’re focused on steaks, but the rest of the experience didn’t really wow me. I don’t think I’d go back, but I’m glad we gave it a try!
It was our first time visiting 1799 and it was a great experience. The food was excellent.
We ordered the grilled brie as the appetizer and it was so good served on a cracker.
I ordered the shrimp and grits and my husband had the NY strip. Both were excellent. His steak was grilled perfectly. He had the bread pudding for dessert and I had the blueberry creme brulee (seasonal)
Food was great and will definitely be back.
Entering the restaurant was interesting because you have to walk through the bar before getting to the restaurant part but also the hostess station is across the restaurant (not far since the restaurant is on the smaller side but needs to be noted for first time people)
Overall, such a great experience. Our server was great and very attentive. He was quick with refills for drinks and checked in with us often. Will definitely be back.
Celebrated my birthday here. Ordered the Tomahawk steak at $130 and for that price I expected it to be phenomenal but it wasn’t. Service was so-so, the owner came by to greet and converse with us but strangely acted as if I wasn’t there. Overall the experience left something to be desired.
Go to this restaurant if you want an authentic restaurant experience. Everything from the drinks to the food was superb. The ambiance of the restaurant was exquisite. The service was excellent; the waitress was knowledgeable about the food offerings and made some good recommendations. The restaurant is on the pricey side, but it is worth it. Use the parking garage located across the street.
Went for a solo date and decided to try this restaurant. Loved the ambiance, perfect for date nights and I was seated within 3-5 minutes on a busy Saturday. Customer service was impeccable and my waiter was very accommodating and personable. Food was delicious, absolutely loved their bread and butter lol. Recommended to my parents and they went yesterday for my mom’s birthday. Loved it. 10/10 will be going back!
Our first time having dinner at 1799. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. They also have a nice selection of wine. It is a short list but excellent options. Oh, the Clam Chowder was amazing!!
Just phenomenal! Great ambiance, experienced and knowledgeable waitstaff, quality and flavorful food. Definitely will return and recommend to everyone. If I have any criticism, they were out of Pinot Grigio; Although, I was offered a fantastic substitute.
1799 was a very classy establishment. My friends and I went for dinner and really enjoyed ourselves. The food and drinks were very tasty. The historical story behind the restaurant is very interesting. Our waiter called the slaves "employees" LOL. He later corrected himself but maybe they should train them that the word slave is not a slur, and if they are required to tell the history, they should feel comfortable and confident to share it.
