So happy I switched to this Primary Care doctor's. Everyone at 14th Street Medical Arts are so nice and accommodating. Besides one or two serious people, all the staff have smiles on their faces and are so kind. I've been to both the Lower East Side location, as well as Upper West side and it's one of the best doctor's offices I've been to in New York. Plus, they have candles + flowers throughout both locations and that really helps put me at ease.
I would like to give them more stars for their friendliness-Jacqueline and Dr. Emily are very personable. However, overall I’ve had the worst experience with-
1. Prescriptions and referrals not signed. I show up to hospital appointment’s and I have no signed prescription… okay, but then…
2. The front desk does not pick up. You are forwarded to a call center that represents them (!)
3. Second time around, I once again had no referral sent through. The hospital tried the day before. I went for a 9am appointment. Again…. Cannot get through. Spoke with a call center.
4. The Dr’s assistant claimed they didn’t receive the scan. Yes, they were faxed.
5. I ended up missing my appointment (and a
lot of work) while sitting chasing 14th street medical.
Doctors are generally okay. They answer questions, but the visit is overall rushed. However, the policy of the offices @ medical arts alone are a bit unfair. You will be charged $50 for a canceled or rescheduled appointment even hours before the time you are to be seen. I totally understand a cancel appointment the day of, but a rescheduled appointment should be free seeing that life happens and things come up. I found myself twice having to deal with either paying a $50 fee or leaving new important obligation in order to make my appointment. It’s ironic because this was never the case last year. It’s really giving money hungry. Additionally, there are a pool or staff up front and no one seems to be helpful! I just might have to switch where I see my doctor. This place has gone down so much since 2020!
Do yourself a favor and stay far away from this place. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. While they do have some good doctors, the overall management is a disaster. For every appointment, I waited over an hour, and during my first visit, they pushed unnecessary tests—clearly an attempt to overcharge insurance. To make matters worse, the wrong tests were ordered, and I had to reschedule twice because their equipment was down. They didn’t even bother to notify me in advance. This place is an unorganized, time-wasting rip-off.
The only positive aspect of this entire ordeal was Mohammed at the front desk. He was—kind, professional, and genuinely dedicated to helping. He did his best to assist me, making an otherwise terrible experience a little more bearable.
I am genuinely appalled by the lack of professionalism with the entire office. I should have known something was wrong when I saw high school kids operating the check in procedure such as taking weight and height and blood pressure. Not saying it takes a genius to do this, but obviously this displays some lack of professionalism in the hiring practice of the facility. Or if that wasn’t enough of a giveaway, I should’ve known something else was wrong from the fact that absolutely no one in the office wear scrubs. Yup the entire “medical” staff is in casual clothes.
There’s many complaints from other patients and reviews around the overall state of the facilities in the sense that the place is not entirely very clean or the entire facility feels very crowded or the amenities are just not very nice or the waiting times are way too long. These are all true, but this is not what we’re getting medical care for. This is not meant to feel like a resort but as a patient, you would expect some amount of professional medical care. Unfortunately, you will not get that either.
All of your concerns around side effects and the actual need to get a specific test will be completely brushed aside because there is no care of being given in this entire facility. It is literally just a machine to order more tests to enrich the owners and staff. All of your concerns will be responded to with the need to get another test. Any concerns around side effects will get dismissed as conspiracy theory. When asked about the actual need to fill a prescription the answer was why not have it just in case.
There were even specific times in which I would ask if there would be an additional cost associated with some of the additional tests to which the answer is always no, but also to which there will be a guaranteed follow up surprise bill that will come shortly after.
If you’re a prospective patient, you should avoid this facility. If you’re a lawyer, I’m sure it will be easy to win a class action lawsuit here.
I am compelled to share my deeply troubling experience with this facility, as I believe it's important for others to be aware of how patients are treated here. After undergoing an X-ray, I expected to receive timely communication regarding my results, especially given my serious medical condition. Unfortunately, after waiting two days without any updates, I felt compelled to reach out for the information.
When I called, I encountered a staff member who clearly had no regard for my distress. Instead of showing empathy or understanding, she responded with frustration and treated me disrespectfully. It was disheartening to feel like I was a burden rather than a patient in need of care. To make matters worse, she abruptly hung up on me.
When I called back, hoping for a resolution, the supervisor I spoke with chose to defend her coworker instead of addressing my concerns. She dismissed my frustration and suggested that I take my complaints elsewhere, which only added to my feelings of helplessness and frustration.
This experience has left me disillusioned with this establishment. It is clear that there is a severe lack of compassion and professionalism among the staff. Patients deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, especially during difficult times. I urge anyone considering this facility to think twice and to prioritize places that value patient care and communication.
Horrible! Still waiting for an authorization for 2 months! A brain MRI! I've had headaches in the interim and no one is moving on this! They rarely pick up the phone so you can never reach them. I rescheduled my appointment once already because the authorization isn't ready. My second appointment is 3 days away and I still haven't gotten the authorization. Shame on them!!! They lack in both, professionalism and responsibility as medical professionals. I strongly strongly strongly suggest another place!
The rudest front desk ever. Today was the last drop
When I had to cancel my appointment due to sickness (I let them know, it was 3 hour prior) , a girl from front desk called me to tell me if I reach 3 strikes ( this is the 2, because I’ve canceled TWICE with them over the years, YEARS!)I will only be able to make an appointment for the same day if they have them ( which they never do) She also mentioned “there are other facilities” if there’s something I didn’t like. What a nice person working at the front desk!
No problem. I will definitely look for other facilities. I don’t want my medical office to threaten me with “strikes” do they give strikes to the doctors? Because one time I was scheduled with a neurologist, the doctor simply didn’t show up! And nobody bothered to let me know ( even though I checked in at the front desk) they only told me that the doctor was not there after I waited over an hour and had to ask them
My patient portal hasn’t been working foreveeer despite my requests to fix it. Nobody cares there.
Look for other facilities if you do care about your health! The best advice they can give you
