Best WLM Reviews
Essen at this location had very little food available when I went. It was about 2:00 pm and there were about six catering dishes with food. Still we ate and the food was good. The staff did their job. I had good memories from Essen on Broad Street but now disappointed here for I expected similar assortment of dishes and smiling faces.
This has been the best place to find my morning oatmeal while staying in NY. I can customize it with lots of toppings including fresh berries. Cheap too! Aside from that, they have an enormous selection of ready to eat for every meal as well as counters to order hot and cold meals. I usually take my food to the hotel room but there is seating as well.
So pleasantly surprised how superior the quality of food was and how absolutely delicious literally everything I piled onto my plate was. Very good and sooo many options ! Highly recommend for a quick breakfast lunch or dinner
It’s the best midtown lunch “deli” option on 8th Ave. or as I like to call them: the Vegas smorgasbord from heaven or hell, depending on the hour of the day.
Their buffet is both standard and wildly surprising, depending on the day. Besides the usual hot buffet midtown staples, you could walk in on a Wednesday and see a whole suckling pig or some crazy lobster tray.
Breakfast goes away at 11am but it really slowly gets taken away around 10:30. That said- that’s when you wanna get here for the first wave of lunch launch. Their braised proteins are the move, especially the Korean or Asian flavored varieties. Salads are on point if you’re basic.
That said, it’s $13.99 a pound. If you’re a novice at the midtown buffet process, lunch can end up being $20. Opt for the smaller container -if you’re a rookie- to keep yourself from overdoing it, which can easily happen because this place is like a Vegas casino. They know we have no self control and that’s how they get you. You’re welcome.
The Korean hot section on the left when you enter is underrated. Entree and soup is cheap for midtown.
Made to order sandwiches and salads are in the back. They’re standard.
It’s relatively clean, in general, even in the dining area.
POS transaction is typical midtown lunch: fast, efficient and indifferent.
There’s no other spot like this on 8th in either direction in this hood. The pandemic really killed a lot of these kinds of spots.
Visiting NYC and found 'Essen. Excellent breakfast wraps and a very nice gentleman making them. Great selection of food items at reasonable prices. Recommended 'Essen to friends and they loved it too. Will definitely go back next time I'm in the city.
I've been to the Essen in Madison Avenue and realized the food is same quality and same variety. I'm really impressed with their excellence service and standards. This is indubitably my got-to for lunch. My friend that I brought also loved the food. This place is pretty close to the road and can be easily noticed from vehicle in normal traffic. There's also wheelchair accessible entrance for the differently able.
The manager is one of the hardest- working, most professional , and accommodating people I have ever met. I am neither his friend or a relative, nor is any one I know. I am just a regular customer at the 8th Avenue eatery who is very impressed on how he is on top of everything always. I rarely have an issue, but when I have, he has been polite and helpful, assuring an acceptable outcome every time.
Idk if she was having a bad day, but I’ve never been treated with worse cashier/help service. Openly talked back to my question and trying to grab my card out of my hands without telling me the total. Rude :( also ridiculous pricing the chicken was undercooked for 24 dollars like Jesus
